Fans of fast Fords can buy the ultimate Focus when the RS500 arrives in May.
Production of the Ford Focus RS comes to an end in September, and the RS500 is Ford’s way of giving the model the send-off it deserves.
Its 2.5 litre turbo unit has been uprated to develop a whopping 345bhp and 340lb/ft of torque. It’ll get from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds and keep on going until it hits 163mph.
Prices haven’t yet been announced and, despite having 50-odd bhp more, the suspension, brakes and tyres of the regular RS are being retained.
How they’ll cope with the extra power remains to be seen, but given that only 500 are being produced (101 of which will come to the UK) it should quickly become a collectors item even if as some in the industry are speculating it comes with a price tag of well over £30,000.
