Mercedes have taken a fresh look at the big R-Class in a bid to improve its fortunes.
The people carrier/SUV crossover was never hugely popular over here and Mercedes will be hoping a revamp boosts sales.
The most obvious change is to the front end, where there’s a new grille, headlight, bonnet and sides.
Two versions of the R-Class are offered in the UK and both will be improved.
The R-300’s fuel economy jumps from 34 to 37.2mpg, while the bigger engined R-350, where power from its 3.0 litre V6 rises 40bhp to 261bhp, emissions drop from 246g/km to 223g/km and fuel consumption rises almost three mpg to 33.2mpg.
Both versions come with seven-speed automatic transmission.
The revised R-Class will reach UK showrooms in September, with prices expected to start around £40,000.
