Visitors to a Perthshire beauty spot will be able to appreciate it all the more thanks to a refurbishment project officially opened on Saturday.
A section of path in Alyth Den had been in danger of collapse and this has been restored, while access has also been enhanced.
The affected part of the path had become worn and undercut by erosion and if it had collapsed would have broken an important link in the Den’s network of paths.
The Den has been recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for the value of its woodland and the nearby Alyth Burn also forms part of the River Tay Special Area of Conservation (SAC). It is much valued by locals and attracts many visitors to the area.
Environment convener Councillor Alan Grant said, “The work to refurbish this part of the Den of Alyth is very important in maintaining the site for residents and visitors alike to use and enjoy.
“Careful consideration was given to how the path could be repaired and improved sensitively, bearing in mind its SSSI status.
“I am delighted that the repairs have had a good response from the local community and I hope the improvements made will encourage even more people to visit the Den.”
