First signs of spring enjoyed by Valleyfield Woodland walkers

Sunshine greeted walkers taking part in a stroll through Valleyfield Snowdrop Festival on Saturday.
Now in its fifth year, this firmly established west Fife event has grown in popularity since it was first launched during VisitScotland’s inaugural Scottish Snowdrop Festival in 2007.
Once again, West Fife Woodlands has teamed up with the Riding for the Disabled Association’s Dunfermline branch to stage a number of events at Valleyfield Woodland Park over the five weeks of the festival.
The emphasis is on encouraging people to step out into Valleyfield Woodland Park to witness the early signs of spring with guided walks.
These go through the remnants of a Humphry Repton-designed landscape and spectacular drifts of snowdrops.
New for this year will be two starlight guided walks, with high-powered searchlights to pick out the Repton features.
Other events will include Enchanted Woodlands, a drama performed by Kinetic Youth Theatre, a return visit of the Dark Skies team and a day of woodland crafts demonstrations.
