Tawny owlets are top attraction at Loch Leven reserve
ByNews reporter
A wealth of stunning bird life has been delighting staff and visitors at the RSPB”s Vane Farm nature reserve at Loch Leven.
The reserve is flourishing with its trees and ponds and skies filled with things to see.
The top draw for staff and visitors so far has been three tawny owlets and occasionally their mother seen propped up against one another in the reserve’s trees.
Roughly 50 days old, the “furby-like” balls of feathers have been delighting audiences for the last week as they hop and jump from branch to branch and have been seen testing their wings
Swallows have also returned to Vane Farm, from Africa and for the past two weeks they have been careering around the site’s 19th century courtyard buildings like fighter jets.
The reserve’s Jane Cleaver said, “It’s just fantastic to see swallows navigating the courtyard and the visitor centre buildings as they seek out their nest sites.” For more information, visit www.rspb.org.uk/vanefarm.
