Cathedrals Express A1 Tornado steam locomotive catches photographers’ attention

The evocative sight of a steam train passing through Tayside and Fife had photographers dashing for their cameras on Tuesday.

The A1 Tornado Cathedrals Express train, operated by holiday company Steam Dreams, was on a trip from Inverness to Edinburgh.

Readers caught it in all its glory as it passed through Courier country.

The 60163 Tornado locomotive is the newest steam engine on the national network and was first steamed in 2008 following a 19-year project to fund and build it.

It has twice hauled the Royal Train and has taken part in a BBC Top Gear race with Jeremy Clarkson.
