Glamis Castle has welcomed a Dutch couple embarking on their latest chapter of a Scottish love story.
For a decade Sjaak and Marian Kenbeek have made a twice-yearly pilgrimage to enjoy the sights, sounds and sweeping roads of the country in their 1957 MGA 1500.
They originally chose Scotland as an interesting and accessible driving destination, but the regular trips soon focused on helping Sjaak quench his thirst for knowledge in the field of Scotch whisky.
The couple have now visited all of Scotland’s working distilleries and, through a friendship with Glamis Castle guide and author Brian Townsend, are also familiar with many of the sites in his book, Scotch Missed, detailing the country’s lost distilleries.
Sjaak (65) has now embarked on a new mission to visit Scotland’s Second World War airfields.
During their latest visit they will head to Orkney before looping back down the west coast.’Great stories’Their holiday will also be recorded in the latest addition to a growing library of books they create each trip from photos and items gathered along the way.
Sjaak said: “Only twice have we come by plane, the rest of the time we have driven and we cover maybe 3-4,000 kilometres per trip.
“Last year we ticked off the last of the distilleries in the Outer Hebrides, so I have now moved on to the airfields.”
He added: “I like to set a goal and when you speak to people about these things and what you are doing they are very helpful and come up with some great stories.
“The roads are made for this car and in all the years we have been coming we have only ever had one small problem with the radiator.”
