Perth’s answer to Delia Smith served up a slice of culinary cash to two local charities.
Cookery queen Pat Macdonald donated the proceeds of the third instalment in her Piquant and Tasty series, topping £3000, to two of her favourite causes Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) and Cash for Kids.
Pensioner Pat, who lives in Hamilton Place, has raised more than £20,000 for local and national charities over the past 20 years.
The popular Piquant and Tasty cookbooks contain previously secret family recipes passed down by her mother and grandmother.
Other mouth-watering meal ideas came from family and friends at home and abroad and talented chefs at Perth College and St Johnstone Football Club.
Pat intended to hang up her apron for good this year but now plans to publish a final book to help wounded servicemen and women.
Moved by pictures and stories of injured soldiers returning from Afghanistan, she wanted to raise cash for Help for Heroes. She said, “I’ve already started gathering recipes and I’m hoping it will be available for sale by October.”
Every penny from the sales of Pat’s books goes to charity. Cash for publishing costs is raised at buffet lunches before publication.
Books are available as a single volume or a whole set by contacting Pat on 01738 626893.
