Staff from Dundee’s Marks & Spencer store boosted funds they have already raised for the Brae Riding School for the Disabled with a “Sex Up Your City” event at Visocchi’s in Broughty Ferry.
Inspired by Sex And The City, around 60 members of staff attended the event with cup cakes based on the characters from the hit TV show, coffee and an ice cream tasting session, adding to the £900 they have already raised through store events since March.
As well as drumming up donations, some employees are keen to use their community volunteering day to find out what the Brae does.
Brae Centre manager Mary Sneddon said, “We’ve already had great success with other companies such as Alliance Trust and Job Centre Plus using their employment volunteering days.
“It is great for us as an organisation to get extra jobs that we may struggle to do due to the high volume of work that our riding lessons generate. For the staff that come along it allows them to get a real insight into the work we do and everyone leaves at the end of the day with a great deal of satisfaction and feeling of helping the disabled community.”
The Brae was nominated by employee Lucy Moffat, who began volunteering there two years ago.
