A Colinsburgh pensioner is making a splash to show he cares this summer.
Ian Sandison (73) has signed up for Sue Ryder Care’s Big Scottish Swim and is encouraging fellow swimmers to join him.
The one-mile open water swim, held next Saturday at Elie, will raise money to help the charity provide care for people living in Scotland with conditions such as cancer, Huntington’s disease, brain injuries and motor neurone disease.
The swim shouldn’t hold any surprises for Mr Sandison, as he was part of a six-man team who swam the Channel in 1965. When he saw a leaflet advertising a local open water swim, he was keen to get back in the water.
Shortly after signing up for the Big Scottish Swim Mr Sandison opened his own online fund-raising page and has been successful in generating over £2000 so far for the charity.
Anyone interested in taking part, or helping on the day, should contact Jo Stevenson on 01592 657532.
