John Bayne, the director of the Lochore family bakery company Bayne’s, is about to embark on a charity cycle race from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
John, who lives near Kinross, is tackling the gruelling 874-mile journey in aid of children’s charity Wooden Spoon.
The charity was founded in 1983 and is dedicated to helping underprivileged children and young people across the UK and Ireland to live happier, more fulfilled lives.
During its first 25 years it has helped over half a million young people with more than £15 million of charitable support.
It is also the official charity of the rugby community in the UK.
John expects to cycle an average of 109 miles a day, which should take him eight days, and hopes to raise £2100.
“The bike ride will be quite a challenge but I have been training hard for it and it is for a very worthwhile cause,” he said.
“I have the added complication of having type one diabetes but it will be worth the effort to raise the money.”
