Dundee and Angus Chess Congress finishes with a flourish

UK chess enthusiasts gathered in Monifieth for the final night of the Dundee and Angus Chess Congress 2010 on Sunday.
The 120-player event, held at the David Lloyd Leisure Centre, included big names such as English FIDE master Peter Constantinou and Scottish women’s FIDE master Elaine Rutherford.
Youngest entrant was Vagif Ramazanov (7) from Aberdeen.
Special guest was Angus Depute Provost Peter Murphy who presented the prizes and officially closed the three-day congress.
Peter Constantinou won the Open Sea Engineering Open, Jonathan Edwards took first prize in the major and Dariusz Kosznik won the minor competition.
Congress director Keith Rose said, “We are pleased to see slight increase in numbers. This year the event was supported by Open Sea Engineering and attracted 120 players from as far afield as Nottingham and Yorkshire and from the far reaches of Scotland.”
