The grieving family of an 18-year-old man who died in a motorbike accident on a north-east Fife road on Saturday afternoon have paid tribute to their “magnificent son and brother.”
The devastated parents of Andrew Murray, from Denny, Stirlingshire, spoke warmly of their son, describing him as a keen musician who played his guitar with pride.
In a joint statement, Donald and Lynn Murray, said Andrew, who worked as an apprentice coachbuilder, was popular with all who met him thanks to his fantastic personality.
“The gulf in our lives will never be filled but we are so happy for the brief 18 years he gave us,” they said.
Mr Murray died when his Yamaha motorbike was involved in a collision with a red Vauxhall Corsa on the B942 Colinsburgh to Pittenweem road near to a farm entrance at Abercrombie.
It is understood the vehicles met head-on at around 5.15pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two occupants of the Corsa were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment to their injuries.
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal at Cupar.
The police repeated their appeal for information from the public.
Deputy head of road policing Inspector Brenda Sinclair said, “I would appeal to any person who saw the movements of the Yamaha motorcycle or the Vauxhall Corsa prior to the crash to come forward. I would also appeal to any person who witnessed this crash to call us on 0845 600 5702.”
