In Arbroath, a rabbit who was dumped outside a Scottish SPCA rescue centre in a horrific condition has found a loving new home.
Amos, who has been renamed Louie by his new owner, was found at the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre at Petterden, near Dundee, in September.
He had been left in the car park in a cat carrier and was suffering from badly overgrown teeth and a deep wound to his face, possibly as a result of an infection or an attack from another animal.
Ann McLeod, from Arbroath, read about Louie’s ordeal and immediately wanted to offer him a home.
“I called the centre as soon as it opened the next day to offer Louie a home,” Ann said. “Now he has a whole double bedroom to share with Floyd, who enjoys having another rabbit for company.
“Louie is a real character and is so laid back, despite what has happened to him in the past.”
Centre assistant manager Lesley Clark said, “We’re delighted Louie is in his new home.
“He was in a terrible state when he arrived in our care but made a full recovery and was soon hopping around ready to be rehomed. Whoever left him in this way caused him a great deal of suffering and should have ensured he received the veterinary treatment he desperately needed.
“Unfortunately, we have not been able to find who was responsible, but the main thing is Louie is now safe and being loved and cared for the way he deserves to be.”
