TV presenter Lorraine Kelly was joined by soldiers injured in Afghanistan to launch this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal in Dundee’s City Square.
Paul Lambert and David Timmins were seriously injured in improvised explosive device (IED) explosions.
Paul from 1 SCOTS lost both legs, while bomb disposal expert David lost an eye.
The men feature in a hard-hitting TV and radio campaign designed to encourage the public to donate to the appeal.
All funds raised by the charity go to provide support to former soldiers and their families, many of whom can suffer physical, psychological or financial problems.
Lorraine, who is an Honorary Colonel for The Black Watch Cadets, said the people of Dundee have always been “very supportive” of the charity.
She added, “I think this is something that is very important and the more people that can help the better.
“People don’t need to donate a lot of money, just whatever they can afford, but I think that this year more than ever we will see people getting involved.
“I have always been a supporter of the appeal because I am quite involved with the armed forces and what is fantastic this year is that there seems to be a lot more young people supporting the campaign.”
The Scottish Poppy Appeal raises over £2 million each year to fund specialist services such as long term care, housing and employment.
