A group of Fife women will be stepping out on Mother’s Day to raise cash for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
Gillian Love, Helen Mackenzie and many others raised more than £1000 by doing the Kirkcaldy Crocus Walk last year and are determined to beat that figure on Sunday, April 3.
The event is at Beveridge Park at 10am and, as usual, can be as long or as short as participants want it to be.
Gillian and Helen hope to smash their previous total and raise even more funds for Breakthrough’s essential work in Scotland.
Gillian said, “With Breakthrough now having a research unit so close to us in Edinburgh, we are even more committed to raising as much as we can to help create a future free from breast cancer.”
Around 65 people, some with their children, grandchildren and dogs, turned out to join the walk last year and it is hoped many more will turn out next month.
Audrey Birt, Breakthrough’s director for Scotland, said, “We’re delighted to have the support of the people of Kirkcaldy once again. The Kirkcaldy Mother’s Day Walk is a lovely way to remember someone special or simply to celebrate your family and friends this Mother’s Day.”
As in previous years, there is a participation fee for all walkers (excluding children under 16 years). This is a suggested donation of £10, which will go directly to the charity.
