Tayforth University Officer Training Corps have raised £1600 as part of a fund-raising drive to change the lives of two Angus girls.
Twins Ayley and Chloe Hirsch are just two years old and face a life of immobility unless their parents Averil and Frazer can raise £80,000 to send them to the US for life-changing surgery which could see them walk unaided for the first time.
Forty members of unit walked from Dundee to Monifieth in a bid to boost the final total and each donated £40.
The event, spearheaded by charity United for All, also saw the walkers meet the girls when they stopped for a break in Broughty Ferry.
Averil, who has been extremely touched by the generosity of the community since the family decided last month to fund-raise for the operation, thanked all of those involved.
She said, “All we had to do was turn up and accept the cheque I can’t believe how many people are organising things on their own. “We’re just really overwhelmed.”Donations to the campaign can be made by visiting www.facebook.com/helpayleyandchloewalk
