The royal wedding has failed to get Dundonians in the party spirit after Dundee City Council confirmed no street parties are planned in the city to mark the occasion.
The council said it had received no requests to seal off any streets ahead of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials on April 29.
With wedding fever growing across the country, many communities are putting the finishing touches to their street parties and local events, which have been aided by the day being declared a bank holiday.
Dundee’s Lord Provost John Letford, who will represent the city as part of the 1900-strong wedding congregation, said, “We’ve not had any requests yet, but I’m sure that everybody will get into the spirit.
“Cultures have changed, but it’s not a lack of respect towards Kate and William.
“When the royal family have visited the city comes out in huge numbers for them and I’ve seen that city square packed in the past.
“Maybe nearer the time people will plan parties or do things in their own gardens.”
Those looking for a royal wedding party only have to look across the Tay to witness what is expected to be one of the larger celebrations.
The St Andrews Wedding Breakfast will take place in St Salvator’s Quadrangle with crews from the BBC covering the event.
It has been confirmed the only street party scheduled to take place in Glasgow has been cancelled due to a lack of interest.
