RAF Leuchars denies Dundee Museum of Transport’s Tornado claim

RAF Leuchars has denied it “promised” a multi-million-pound RAF Tornado F3 combat jet to the Dundee Museum of Transport, despite recent claims.
Officials from the Fife base have confirmed that all its Tornado fighters, which were once integral to the defence of Britain’s northern airspace, were already in England as they go into retirement and there are no plans to hand one over as an exhibit.
The news came only days after the chairman of the transport museum, Jimmy McDonnell, said that the base had pledged to hand one over.
Mr McDonnell was asked to comment but did not do so.
