A campaign to help two Angus twins walk has passed the £13,500 mark and attracted strong online support.
Carnoustie mother Averil Fleming said the drive to pay for surgery for her two-year-old daughters Ayley and Chloe had “just taken off” since it began around two months ago.
As well as the money, the Facebook page of events in aid of the cerebral palsy sufferers has now attracted over 1000 ‘likes’.
Averil said, “I had to stop the other day and think is this really happening?
“I can’t thank everybody enough for all their support it has been absolutely amazing to see so many people getting involved.”
A sportsman’s dinner at Dundee United on Friday brought in £1600 and a ladies’ night in Kirriemuir on Saturday made £520.
More than £250 was collected as a result of a children’s disco in Carnoustie at the weekend and there are several events planned for the coming weeks.
Soon the twins’ uncle Chris Fleming will have his head shaved at Carnoustie hairdresser Guyz Cutz and greenkeepers will present a cheque from their fund-raising efforts.
All the money collected is going towards an £80,000 target to pay for an operation in America.
Averil has been in touch with the surgeon in Missouri and is awaiting results of a spine X-ray so they can be emailed to his office.
Donate via JustGiving or join the Facebook campaign, or cheques can be posted to 18 Winter Place, Carnoustie.
