Motorbikes of all shapes and sizes roared into Dundee at the weekend after taking part in a spring fling charity run.
Around 250 riders from the Blairgowrie and District Motor Cycle Club (BAD MCC) wheeled into action during the fifth annual fun run to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre.
The biking enthusiasts, aged from 16 to 80, left on their 125-mile journey from Coupar Angus at 10.30am on Sunday for Pitlochry, Crieff and on through Fife.
After crossing the Tay bridge, the bikers arrived at the finish line at the Maggie’s Centre around 3.30pm where they enjoyed well-deserved refreshments.
The group established their fund-raising biking event five years ago to support the Maggie’s Centre after a club member’s wife was diagnosed with cancer.
BAD MCC club member Graeme Brown (40) said this year’s event had been an overwhelming success.
“The whole day went really well. We had more than 250 riders take part in the event with all sorts of bikes. We had mopeds to superbikes taking part on the day.
“We had really good weather as well and everyone just seemed to enjoy themselves.”
The kind-hearted motorcyclists raised more than £5000 for Maggie’s last year, a sum Graeme hopes they can exceed.
“The run is getting bigger and bigger every year,” he said. “We haven’t added the money up yet but last year we raised over £5000 and hopefully we will do as well this time.”
He added, “After five years as a club, members find themselves even more committed in their support as a growing number of them have more personal reasons to be involved and really appreciate the work the Maggie’s Centres do.”
