Miss Scotland Nicola Mimnagh and Scottish Mini Cooper Championship driver Kenny McLeod met at Knockhill Racing Circuit to launch a competition which they hope will raise £100,000 for Nicola’s Tiara Appeal, in aid of Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).
The competition, organised by Kenny, includes an all-expenses-paid VIP trip for two to the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix worth £6000.
All money raised by the competition will go to the Miss Scotland Tiara Appeal, which aims to raise £100,000 to build a new young adult space at Rachel House Children’s Hospice at Kinross.
Kenny said, “I’m gearing up for the 2011 season and wanted to do something that would get everyone involved and revved-up about Mini Cooper racing while raising money for a great cause. We’ve set an ambitious £100,000 target but I’m sure it’s achievable with the amazing prizes on offer.”
Nicola said, “I’m delighted Kenny is supporting my Tiara Appeal to raise £100,000 for Rachel House Children’s Hospice and I hope lots of people take part and help him beat his target.
“I’ve seen first-hand what a difference CHAS makes to the lives of children, young adults and their families so I’m thrilled to support this very special charity.”
CHAS regional fund-raising manager Jon Heggie said, “It is wonderful to have Kenny and his Mini supporting the Miss Scotland Tiara Appeal for CHAS.”
CHAS provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-shortening conditions. It runs two children’s hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House at Balloch, that offer short planned breaks, emergency support, end of life care and bereavement services.
Competition entrants should text “CHAS” and guess the position they think Kenny’s Mini will finish in for the next Scottish Mini Cooper Championship race. They can also enter online at www.gpamini.com
