Poignant donation for Angus Riding for the Disabled

Angus Riding for the Disabled received a significant boost from one of its volunteer helpers in a poignant weekend presentation.
Dundee man George Neilson is familiar with the route to the organisation’s South Bottymyre centre near Forfar, having helped as a volunteer driver for a number of years, and on Saturday was joined by family members from Dundee and Glasgow on a special trip to the unit.
Mr Neilson’s wife Betty passed away last month and he decided a funeral collection of nearly £800 should go to the group.
“Many years ago I got involved as a driver, working on a rota to bring riders out here from Dundee,” said George (81).
He spent his career with D. C. Thomson and the couple were also well known in Dundee musical circles as stalwarts of the Thomson Leng Society and concert organisers.
The donation is to be used to help with the purchase of a new horse, Ricky.
