Tayside Contracts defended after resident takes a dig at pothole repairs

Dundee City Council has defended the method being adopted by Tayside Contracts in fixing potholes.
Liff man Ian Kennedy believed workmen were not doing the job properly in the Church Road and Gray Den area.
“I saw them pouring the cold tarmac mix straight on to mud,” he said. “Surely that won’t work? As soon as it rains the mud will be washed away and the tarmac will be washed away with it.
“I would have thought they would have cleaned the mud out of the potholes before the poured in the tarmac mix.”
But a city council spokesman insisted that did happen.
“I can confirm that the potholes are being repaired in accordance with proper Tayside Contracts procedure,” he said.
“This involves sweeping the potholes, either by hand or mechanical sweeper before fixing the repair.”
