A Dundee project for young adults with disabilities needs more people to join or it will have to return unused funding.
The Growing Up service provides one-year training in horticulture for adults aged 18-30 with additional support needs and enables access to further education, training and employment opportunities.
There are currently 10 participants on the scheme, which is run by Barnardo’s, and there is space for a further 15.
John Davidson of Barnardo’s Dundee said: “The project is loved by the people who take part.
“We have people so keen that they come from all over Tayside Perth, St Andrews and other places.
“But the problem is that the wider public don’t seem to know about the scheme, not even the social workers.
“So we want to spread the word we have the money to equip people with protective clothing, lunch and travel and we have funding for 15 unused places.
“If people don’t sign up then we’ll just have to return that funding and it would be a shame for it not to be used.
“The training is structured but informal and includes horticultural therapy it isn’t a rigid structure like school or college.
“It is about having fun and building confidence, but is also a certified course.
“It has had a real impact on the people who take part and has improved their self-esteem”.
John added that as well as being great for the young people, it is also a good form of respite for carers.
The group meets on a Wednesday from 10am until 3pm, with another class on a Thursday, from 10am to 2pm, at the Muirfield allotments for people with more complex needs.
