More than 200 cancer survivors, their families and friends raised more than £22,000 for Cancer Research UK at the weekend through the 24-hour Relay For Life event in Dundee. The inspirational community event was opened on Saturday with an emotional lap of honour by survivors at the Ronnie McIntosh Stadium.
Twenty two teams of around 200 people, including cancer survivors, spent months fundraising ahead of what was the eighth Relay For Life and made even more money on the day with ice bucket challenges a new feature for 2014. Organisers said £22,312 was raised although another £2,000 to £3,000 is expected once the final tally is handed in.
