Dundee’s very own “ginger ninja” has battled his way through to the semi-finals of a major TV show.
Dave Dickson, 29, is competing in ITV’s assault course, Ninja Warrior.
So far the father of three from Lochee has had to get past obstacles, including swinging through an “upside down horse show” and scaling a 14ft “warped wall.”
Filming took place in August and Dave’s feat was shown on TV at the weekend.
He said: “I keep fit generally, but I’d never done an assault course before.I’d never even seen the programme before I took part.
“A friend of mine had seen it and suggested I should apply.I thought it looked cool, so I did.
“It was tough, there were five obstacles and by the time I got to the last one I was very tired.
“I had to jump diagonally across some steps, wedge myself in the middle of an upside down horse shoe and go down a rail, jump on tiles suspended from the ceiling and run to the top of a 14ft ‘warped wall’, which looks a bit like a skate ramp.”
“I hadn’t done any special training before doing this, although I did gymnastics and break-dancing when I was younger so I’d kept fit.”
Dave said the toughest obstacle was the warped wall, which looked bigger in real life than on TV.
He added that the best thing about the show was meeting the other contestants and making new friends.
Dave said: “I’ve been dubbed the ‘ginger ninja’ and I think there have been a few before me too!”
Ninja Warrior UK is the British version of the Japanese assault course game show Sasuke.
The show, which has also been popular in the USA for a number of years, is now in its second series in the UK.
