Wide range of events in Dundee to mark centenary of Battle of Loos
ByThe Courier Reporter
The organisation created to commemorate Dundee’s role in the Great War warmly welcomed the Scottish Government’s decision to award the national commemoration of the Battle of Loos to the city.
The Great War Dundee project partnership, which includes community leaders, academics, historians, museum curators, archivists, librarians, artists, education specialists and members of the public, said it was pleased the city’s historic ties to the Battle of Loos had been recognised and was planning a full programme of events to mark September’s centenary.
Norman Watson, who represents Dundee publishers DC Thomson & Co on the partnership, said the group had worked hard with Dundee City Council to win the commemoration for the city.
Dr Watson said a range of events will take place in the city over the weekend of September 25-27.
