SNP figures have rounded on Alistair Darling after he claimed projects such as V&A at Dundee could be at risk in an independent Scotland.
The leader of Better Together said in an exclusive interview with The Courier that being part of the UK was an essential factor in bringing the museum to the city and that the creation of “barriers” could harm job creation.
Dundee East MP Stewart Hosie hit back, saying “the V&A project is Dundee’s flagship Waterfront development, an icon of the city’s redevelopment and it is firmly on track, exactly where it needs to be at this point.”
Dundee SNP MSPs Shona Robison and Joe Fitzpatrick agreed, claiming the project was too important to be brought into the referendum debate.
MSP and Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop also responded to the comments, saying V&A at Dundee had received no UK Government funding.
