A chicken has been found feeling “fowl” outside a branch of KFC.
It is unclear if the bird had made a desperate escape bid or was looking for lost pals when it was discovered outside the Alloa branch of the fast food outlet.
The large brown hen Rhode Island Red and Rhode Island White cross, commonly bred for commercial egg production, was rescued after a member of the public called the Scottish SPCA.
The bird is now in the charity’s care at its Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, where it has been named Peggy.
Animal Rescue Officer Kirsty McQuade said: “She is missing a lot of feathers and isn’t in great condition.
“At this stage we don’t know how she came to be there. She could have strayed from home but we also have to consider that she may have been abandoned.
“The road is very busy and she could easily have been run over, so we’re really glad she was rescued.”
The SSPCA swore there was no chance of her ending up “finger lickin’ good” in one of Colonel Sanders’ buckets.
Ms McQuade said: “We’ll look after Peggy and find her a loving new owner if she can’t be returned home.”
