Dunfermline Heritage Walk marking a double anniversary
ByNews reporter
Dunfermline’s New Year Heritage Walk will mark a double celebration the 175th anniversary of the birth of the city’s benefactor Andrew Carnegie and the 25th anniversary of the volunteer heritage guides.
A commemorative cake will be shared with the revellers who muster at the Mercat Cross in High Street at 1.30pm on Sunday’s ‘first foot’ by joining in the one-hour guided tour of the city’s heritage quarter.
If, for public safety reasons, the event has to be cancelled due to the weather, the Carnegie trustees will still hold an open house from 1.30pm in the refurbished Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum in Moodie Street, where free refreshments will be on offer.
Visitors can tour the displays in the upgraded museum, which reopened after a facelift in 2009.
