Bracon Toy Town continued his almost unblemished record at Inchcoonans Equestrian Centre events when he lifted the supreme title at their spring show for 2014.
The seasoned campaigner took the win for his 11-year-old rider Annabelle Brooks, from Kirriemuir, in a repeat of his previous performances, which have seen him lift two supreme titles and the reserve overall at the event on the last three consecutive occasions.
Now 16 years young the former HOYS and Royal International pony, known as Rupert at home, has bagged no end of silverware with Annabelle since he joined the Brooks family in 2012.
Beyond their success at Inchcoonans, last season Rupert and Annabelle stood supreme of the Brechin Spring Show, reserve supreme at the World Horse Welfare Show and won championships across numerous other shows including
the Scottish Grass Sickness Show, at Blairgowrie, the Puddledub Summer Show and the Brechin Autumn Show.
The 12.2hh chestnut gelding, which is now into veteran classes, was sired by Welsh pony stallion Eeabrook Democrat and was bred out of the British Riding Pony mare Bracon Title Girl.
Rising through the ranks from the grassroots ridden championship ring, new partnership Zoe Guild and Rubix Cube were awarded the sash as overall reserves.
Zoe, 20, who works full time as a domiciliary care worker and who liveries at Murroes, near Broughty Ferry, had bought the five-year-old gelding unseen over the internet just seven weeks previously.
The low-mileage Irish sports horse of unknown breeding had done little, if anything, competitively before Zoe imported him to Scotland.
“We’ve been out to a couple of shows over the last month or so, and he’s proved himself to be a very fast learner,” explained Zoe.
She now plans to spend the remainder of the season bringing him on slowly, with the hope of introducing him to British Eventing next season.
