An 89-year-old man who sparked a hunt after going missing on a journey between Aberdeen and Glasgow has been found safe and well in Dundee.
Edwin Leadbetter, known as Eddie, had been due to arrive in Glasgow shortly before 5pm after taking the 2.10pm direct bus from Aberdeen, but didn’t turn up.
His worried granddaughter Donna Ward issued an appeal on Facebook for information that was shared almost 50,000 times across the country.
The family were partocularly worried because Mr Leadbetter has mild Alzheimer’s.
Donna posted: “We don’t know if he got on that bus or the other one which stops in Dundee and Edinburgh as the person taking him to the bus left him in the queue and didn’t see him actually board the bus. So he could potentially be in either of these cities too.”
Thankfully, shortly before 10pm a relieved Donna posted that Edwin had been traced in Dundee thanks to the Facebook appeal.
After being reunited with Edwin, Donna posted: “Picked him up in Dundee there, he’s chirpy and was happy sitting drinking tea with the policeman. Homeward bound now thankfully. Huge thanks to everyone for sharing and police Scotland for doing an amazing job.”
