Mum’s the word for sisters taking on Edinburgh MoonWalk challenge
ByThe Courier Reporter
Arbroath sisters are clocking up the miles in preparation for Edinburgh’s MoonWalk Scotland on June 13.
Jenny Lyon, Diane Craik and Lynn Valentine are hoping to complete The Full Moon a power-walking midnight marathon of 26.2 miles in honour of their mum, Hilda Valentine, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Lynn said: “Although we can’t save mum, we are hoping that our efforts will help others survive.
“We’ve named our team Mum’s the Word in recognition of all that mum has done for us.”
Over the years Hilda and her family have completed other challenges to raise money for cancer research. Last year they took part in the Arbroath Relay for Life as Hilda’s Hippies, and have also braved the North Sea in the Arbroath New Year dook.
This year’s MoonWalk theme is the Mad Hatter’s Midnight Tea Party and the sisters are dressing as pink flamingoes for the walk.
