If you’re a parent with young children you’ll understand the excitement surrounding the arrival of Justin Fletcher in Dundee today.
The children’s entertainer is better known as Mr Tumble and this morning he became Dr Tumble as he added an honorary degree from Dundee University to an MBE.
Professor Pete Downes, principal and vice-chancellor of the university, praised the CBeebies favourite’s “fantastic work with young children”.
He has featured on a host of popular shows and has worked hard to ensure they are accessible to all using sign language on his Bafta-winning show Something Special.
His visit to Dundee proved a massive hit, with one graduate posting this tribute to him on Facebook and Instagram
Mr Tumble was one of a number of big names invited to step on to the stage at the Caird Hall today to be recognised for their achievements.
He was joined this morning by celebrated writer Roddy Doyle of The Commitments fame while molecular biologist Professor Frank Grosveld and crime novelist Stuart MacBride who for years has brought tears to the eyes of the Aberdeen tourism chiefs were part of this afternoon’s celebrations.
