Man v machine competitive robots on show in Edinburgh
ByThe Courier Reporter
Scientists have programmed robots to play rock-scissors-paper against human opponents.
During one-hour workshops at this year’s Edinburgh International Science Festival, the robots will practise responding to human gestures.
The 2ft-high humanoid devices, programmed by Edinburgh University scientists, will use artificial intelligence to learn their opponents’ strategy as they try to react intelligently to win the game.
With help from a Microsoft Kinect, the robots will ultimately learn to anticipate the actions of their opponents.
