Pride and relief were etched on the faces of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards’ families as they welcomed their loved ones back from Afghanistan.
More than 260 soldiers and officers from Scotland’s cavalry, who transfer to Leuchars next year, took part in the parade before HRH the Duke of Kent in the German town on Thursday.
Annabel Kerr, who was there to welcome her husband Scott back from the six-month tour, said: “They have spent over a year training for it and six months out there doing their duties, so it’s a very proud moment.
“This is very important for the boys’ camaraderie. It’s good they get a bit of a celebration and it’s nice to have them home.”
It was the last return to Fallingbostel before the regiments’ move to Leuchars in the middle of next year.
