Semi-final fever is building in Dundee as fans eagerly anticipate Saturday’s clash at Ibrox.
Hundreds of Dundee United ‘thundersticks’ have been snapped up from a stand in the city’s Wellgate Centre, as fans begin to get kitted out for the game.
The tangerine inflatable thundersticks can be banged together by jubilant fans to create a whopping show of support for the Tangerines.
Kim Addison, one of the avid Arabs to pick up a semi-final thunderstick, said she could not wait to see the game.
She said: “We’re having a big party. We’re going to have banners and flags outside the house and get everyone together.
“I have been a Dundee United fan all my life.
“The thundersticks will go perfectly,” the 53-year old added.
Mark Flynn and Cameron McDonald were two other eager Arabs who picked up a thunderstick.
Cameron, 16, said: “I have been to Ibrox before and United won both times so I’m expecting a similar result.
“I reckon we’ll win 3-1 and it will be a great day out. We’re going to make the final.”
His friend Mark from Monifieth, also 16, agreed.
“It will be an easy win 3-0 I would think. I think Armstrong and Robertson will definitely get on the score sheet.
“The Thundersticks will be great,” he added.
Thousands of fans from across Courier Country are expected to attend the match, but Tangerines across the world are also gearing up for the clash.
The Perth Arabs Western Australia Branch has mlore than 120 members and is preparing to bring a taste of Dundee to the Aussies on Saturday, the London Arabs, previously known as the South London Tangerines, are sending supporters up from the capital.
Anticipation is also building for the other match in Courier Country, when St Johnstone are facing Aberdeen.
The excitement over the match at Ibrox follows news that eager Dundee United fans based in Tayside were having to hire coaches from as far afield as Hamilton to reach the match.
It is still possible to collect a Dundee United thunderstick today from the DC Thomson stand in the Wellgate Centre.
