Pedal power pushed to the limit at Dundee petrol station
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Monifieth woman performed a 10-hour static cycle on the forecourt of a busy Dundee petrol station to raise vital funds for Marie Curie.
Brenda Hally’s marathon endurance cycle saw her cover more than 100 miles, and is also a training exercise for her own forthcoming 450-mile cycle challenge from Niagara Falls to New York City in September.
In recent years Brenda, a carer and grandmother of two, has raised thousands of pounds for Marie Curie with challenges including hiking the West Highland Way, climbing Ben Nevis and last year a 400-mile cycle trek from Vietnam to Cambodia.
She said: “I’m hoping my marathon cycle will inspire people with motorised transport to appreciate the effort my challenge involves.
“However tough the challenge is, I feel very lucky to be able to support our community nursing service by taking part and raising vital funds to make sure more people in our area know the comfort of a nurse at the end of their life.”
