Briton dies in Dubai balcony plunge

A British man has plunged to his death from a balcony in the United Arab Emirates.

Elwood McIlwraith, 29, a former sailor from Hull, died in Dubai after falling from the 42-storey Laguna Tower.

Mr McIlwraith was working in Dubai as a fitness instructor and had recently got married.

It is not clear whether he lived in the building and an investigation into his death is continuing.

An FCO spokesman said: “We were made aware of the death of a British national, Elwood Floyd McIlwraith, in Dubai on May 4.

“We are providing consular assistance to his family at this difficult time.”
