An albino bat has been spotted fluttering in an Angus garden.
The rare creature, believed to be the first of its kind to be recorded in the area, was caught on camera by Monikie man Brian Whyte.
Mr Whyte said: “It was quite fluttery and we were surprised to see it out … It seemed in my mind to like the camouflage of the magnolia walls.”
Its bright colour leaves the bat more vulnerable to predation by other creatures of the night such as tawny owls and barn owls.

Tayside Bat Group chairwoman Dr Amanda Wilson said: “There are fewer than half a dozen reports of albino bats being spotted in the UK.
“We’ve certainly never come across anything like this before and Tayside Bat Group dates back several decades so we feel this is probably a very rare and exciting find right on our doorstep”
