It might not quite qualify as an Indian Summer, but temperatures are expected to rocket this weekend thanks to the first hurricane of the year
However, anyone expecting to give their summer clothes a last hurrah before winter might be disappointed as there’s likely to be plenty of rain too.
The warmer weather is a result of the remnants of Hurricane Humberto moving into the mid-Atlantic.
This is sending sub-tropical air around an area of high pressure, which will then move over the UK, bringing warmer weather with it. But Scotland will not feel the full benefits until Sunday or Monday.
A Met Office spokeswoman said the East coast of Scotland can expect warm but muggy conditions on Saturday and Sunday.
She said: “It will be around 14 or 15 degrees centigrade in Dundee on Saturday, which is about normal for this time of year.
“But it will then get warmer on Sunday, with temperatures reaching about 18C, and then Monday will see that sort of temperature again.”
She also said Fife and Perth and Kinross can expect similar conditions as Dundee. Those living on the South coast of England can expect a mini-heatwave over the weekend.
Temperatures there are expected to reach around 23C this weekend.
