The operation lasted almost 24 hours and began after a large fire broke out in the central asylum building, engulfing the roof. This new drone footage taken on Tuesday shows the scale of the damage, although much of the site was already derelict. A spokesman for the fire service said a specialist team are investigating the cause of the blaze. For more on this story, see Wednesday’s Courier.
