A five-year-old boy has launched a nationwide campaign to bring toys to sick children by adding the first sparkle to a Christmas tree in Ninewells Hospital.
The Lost Christmas Tree is a virtual fundraiser and gift-giving campaign for children in hospitals across Scotland, led by children’s charity Fairy Box.
Logan McRae, a regular visitor to Ninewells Fairy Boxes following treatment, joined his mother Eve McRae and family friend Jaclyn Dallas on a visit to deliver toys and gifts.
The fundraiser invites £5 donations in exchange for a sparkle to light up the virtual tree and also buys a child’s gift for one of 20 Fairy Boxes in Scotland.
There are Fairy Boxes in wards around Courier Country, including Perth and Kirkcaldy.
A children’s drawing competition for ages thee to six will run alongside the fundraiser, with the 20 best designs winning a book from American author and illustrator Pamela Harden.
Fairy Box trustee Rosie Butler said: “We hope the fairytale theme of our fundraiser and the competition will appeal to children and grown-ups alike and generate lots of sparkles to keep our Fairy Boxes across Scotland full to the brim.”
Donations can be made through www.justgiving.com/Fairy-box and entry forms for the competition can be downloaded from www.fairybox.org.
