The dispute between Stirling Council and trade unions has intensified as the administration was accused of damaging staff morale.
Opposition councillors Scott Farmer and Steven Paterson were set to table a motion at a council meeting urging the administration to rethink its offer to workers and engage with trade unions.
Mr Farmer said: “It’s affecting morale. We are concerned that this is having a very bad effect on frontline services and we really need to get round the table.”
Stirling Council has expressed disappointment over the unions’ rejection of its proposals regarding pay and conditions, which chief executive Bob Jack described as “very positive”.
But trade union Unison, which has balloted its members on industrial action, says the proposals would mean staff working longer hours for less pay.
Mr Jack said: “The votes taken on industrial action are now some months old, they attracted only a few hundred votes, and were based on a very different set of conditions.
“We firmly believe that negotiation and compromise are the way ahead and call on the unions to let their members vote on the offer we are making.”
