A well-known and much-loved figure of the Angus Glens has gone missing.
Tweed, an affable eight-year-old border terrier, belonging to the Helyer family at Auchlishie Farm, north of Kirriemuir has not been seen since last Friday, when she disappeared with her three-year-old son Haggis.
The pair had bolted, catching everyone unawares, and were last seen together crossing the B955 towards Prosen Bridge and Cortachy at about 4pm that day.
A wet and bedraggled Haggis was spotted later by a local resident at the roadside and taken to a local vet before being returned home. But there’s been no sign of Tweed.
The family, local residents and rural workers have all tried to track the lost terrier down. The police have been contacted, as have dog rescue and warden centres, all without success.
Owner Nicky Helyer said: “People have been amazingly helpful and have been out looking for Tweed, but we are running out of options.
“Perhaps someone saw her at the roadside looking cold and wet and took her home with good intent. We would just like her back.”
