Beano finds new challenger for Wimbledon winner Andy Murray
ByAndrew Liddle
Wimbledon champion Andy Murray will appear in the 75th anniversary issue of The Beano later this month.
The Grand Slam winner will face off against Minnie the Minx in an epic tennis match.
The anniversary issue will also feature a host of other famous faces, yet to be announced.
Beano editor Craig Graham said: “The Beano celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and we’ve been working hard to put together an extra special issue that is packed full of menacing, pranks and jokes.
“We always planned to include Andy Murray in this amazing issue but we’ve reworked the strip to reflect his historic Wimbledon win.
“The issue will also feature special guest writers and illustrators, celebrity contributions and young comic genius Zoom Rockman’s debut Beano strip.
“It’s been a real honour to work on this extra special issue and we hope Andy and all our readers like it,”
Past issues of the Beano have featured other famous faces such as Simon Cowell, Chris Evans and Olympic gold medal-winning heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill.
The Beano special edition goes on sale on July 24.
