A KITTEN, a rubber snake and a trumpet were just some of the more unusual items lost on public transport in Dundee this year.
Passengers left hundreds of articles on buses in the city, while dozens of items were left behind by travellers at Dundee Airport.
One absent-minded person on a Stagecoach bus left their pet kitten, which was later rehomed by a member of staff after no one came forward to claim it.
A TV, a wheelchair, horse brushes, walking sticks, a child’s scooter, thermal long johns and underwear were also left on Stagecoach buses throughout the year.
A white walking stick was one of the more unusual things left at Dundee Airport.
Gadgets galore were lost, including iPads, Kindles and various types of phone.
One unlucky passenger was probably left groaning in frustration after leaving house keys behind in the airport, while others have lost important documents like passports and driving licences.
Customers on National Express buses in Dundee also left behind a variety of belongings this year.
Many people went home without their glasses with 117 pairs in the lost property box at the bus depot in Dock Street.
However, their forgetfulness has helped people on the other side of the world as the unclaimed glasses are recycled for patients in Africa by charity Vision Aid Overseas.
Unusual items discovered by bus staff include a rubber snake, a trumpet, a men’s shaver, a hearing aid and two children’s scooters.
A spokeswoman for National Express Dundee said: “Considering the bus operator has recorded 12 million passenger journeys during 2012, it’s not surprising that a few things get left behind.
“The lost property cupboard is at present home to more than 100 pairs of glasses, 35 umbrellas and five walking sticks, not to mention numerous travel cards, wallets, bags, keys, gloves, hats and clothing.”
