VIDEO: Life on the frontline with the TA in Cyprus
ByThe Courier Reporter
Courier reporter Peter Swindon and photographer Kris Miller were given the rare chance to spend several days with 51st Highland, 7th Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland in Cyprus as the Territorial Army soldiers completed a carefully
planned training exercise in searing temperatures over tough terrain.
Headquartered in Perth, the battalion has detachments from across Scotland, including bases in Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Stirling.
The soldiers arrived on Cyprus for several days of live firing before they were presented with a fictional scenario which was played out during a 96-hour real-time training session.

Exercise Lion Star 3 was a collective training exercise which saw TA soldiers work with 16 regular infantrymen from 2 Scots; 7 from the 105 Royal Artillery; two from 7 Rifles and one from 4 Royal Military Police.
