Action has been taken after the Scottish health secretary held a series of “open and honest” meetings with NHS staff.
Alex Neil said changes had been made after he and Public Health Minister Michael Matheson conducted a number of “back to the floor” visits.
The two politicians spoke to dozens of staff when they went on visits to 11 sites within the health service, including Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
They also visited the Scottish Ambulance Service in Falkirk, with Mr Neil going on shift with an ambulance crew.
In addition he met workers at the contact centre for the NHS 24 advice service and the Scottish Ambulance Service control room.
The Scottish Govrnrment said feedback from staff during the visits had already been taken on board, with more flexible visiting hours and a patient opinion website being introduced as a result.
Mr Neil said: “After my appointment as cabinet secretary I made clear that I was keen to hear from staff directly, to find out about their experiences and the issues that mattered to them.
“Since then, Michael Matheson and I have taken the time to speak to staff first hand and have carried out 11 visits at NHS sites across Scotland.
“The aim of the visits was to allow staff to speak to us directly, so that they could be open and honest about the issues that impact on their work.
“As well as providing me with a valuable insight into what matters to staff, I have fed back to health boards on some of the key issues raised, and we have already taken action on some of the comments received.”
